Legal
Acceptable Use of the SongPort API
These rules belong to the API Terms. Some of them come straight from the rules the music platforms set for us.
Version 1.0 · Effective 15 November 2026
What you may do
- Use the API in your own app, site, bot, script or shortcut, free or paid for your own users.
- Show and share SongPort links.
- Store results temporarily, for at most 30 days. After that, you request them again or delete them. This period comes from YouTube's rules for derived data.
- Share your key with colleagues in the same company or with people in your household, for the same account. You stay responsible for all calls made with that key.
You don't have to mention SongPort, but you're welcome to.
What you may not do
- Resell the API, your key or the results, or offer them to others as an API under your own name.
- Share your key with people outside your own company or household.
- Create several free accounts to get around the limits.
- Get around the limits, for example by rotating keys.
- Store results for longer than 30 days or use them to build your own database of music data.
- Use the API in a way that breaks the terms of a music platform.
- Attack the API or songport.link, put heavy load on them or test them for vulnerabilities without our written permission. Found a security problem? Email us at hello@songport.link.
- Send personal data of your users to the API. The API only needs music links or ISRC codes.
What happens if you break these rules
See article 11 of the API Terms. In case of serious abuse we suspend your access right away. Otherwise we first send a warning and you get 7 days to fix it.
