Privacy Policy
This policy covers the SongPort website and the SongPort Chrome Extension.
Last updated: July 2026
Who we are
SongPort is a tool developed by Jonas Denil (operating as Straatletters, Belgium) that converts music links from streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, SoundCloud, Deezer) into universal SongPort links. For the purposes of the GDPR, Jonas Denil is the data controller. This privacy policy applies to the SongPort website at songport.link and the SongPort Chrome Extension.

What data we collect
Music links you convert
When you paste a music link and click Convert — on the website or in the Chrome Extension — that URL is sent to our server for processing. The resulting SongPort link and its associated track metadata (title, artist, streaming platform URLs) are stored in our database. This data is not linked to any personal identifier.
Chrome Extension — active tab URL
When you open the extension popup, it reads the URL of your active browser tab solely to detect whether you are on a music track page and to offer automatic conversion. This URL is only processed locally unless you confirm a conversion. It is never sent to our servers without your explicit action.
Click analytics
When someone opens a SongPort link and clicks through to a streaming platform, we record the click, the platform chosen, a coarse device type, and a hashed version of the visitor's IP address, from which we derive an approximate country. We store the hash rather than the raw IP to keep this privacy-friendly, but a hashed IP may still qualify as personal data under the GDPR, so we disclose it here.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Raw, unhashed IP addresses stored in our own database
- Browsing history outside of the active tab check described above
- Any data from tabs you are not actively converting
Third-party music services (APIs)
To identify tracks and build cross-platform links, SongPort calls the public APIs of streaming services. We access only public data using server-side API keys — we never access your account on those services and never ask you to sign in to them.
YouTube API Services
SongPort uses YouTube API Services (provided by Google). We read the public title, channel and thumbnail of a YouTube video you paste, and public search results used to find the YouTube Music version of a track you convert. We store the resulting YouTube Music link (a video reference) as a cache; we refresh or delete YouTube-derived data at least every 30 days and remove links to videos that are no longer available.
By using SongPort you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Music Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can review apps connected to your account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
SongPort is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these platforms.
Analytics, advertising & cookies
The SongPort website uses the third-party services below for analytics and advertising. Analytics and advertising only run after you consent via our cookie banner; by default they are switched off (Google Consent Mode v2). The Chrome Extension does not embed any of these and does not send analytics events.
| Service | Purpose | Loads | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Tag and consent management (loads other Google tags) | Always — with Consent Mode v2 defaults set to denied until you choose | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Analytics | Website usage analytics (page views, device, approximate location) | After analytics consent | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google AdSense | Displaying advertising | After advertising consent | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights | Aggregate, cookieless performance and traffic metrics | Always (anonymous, no cross-site tracking) | vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy |
For the full list of cookies and how to change your choices, see our Cookie Policy.
Data storage and retention
Converted links stored in the SongPort database are retained to improve the service and avoid redundant lookups. This data consists of music platform URLs and their SongPort equivalents. No personal data is attached to these records.
Data obtained from third-party music APIs is treated as a cache. In particular, in line with the YouTube API Developer Policies, we refresh or delete YouTube-derived data at least every 30 days and remove links to videos that are no longer available.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Because we do not collect account data and only ever store a hashed, non-reversible form of any IP address, in practice there is little to no personal data to retrieve or delete.
